Gathering Samples begins in a cornfield in Southwest Iowa, near the Missouri River, in the Loess Hills. When I was a very young girl, I would take Mason jars of well water out to this field for my grandfather to relieve his thirst. At that time, he farmed with horses. His precision teams were known in our area. Here are photos of me sitting upon one when I was about 6 years old. When I am in this field, it feels very similar to how it was then.
